My wonderful husband and my fantastic daughter.
The relative good health we all enjoy.

|Accent or not
This was strangely accurate. I grew up in New Jersey but lived for a while in both the south and New England and my mother was from the Pacific Northwest so I assume I picked up some of her verbal oddities.

|What American accent do you have? |
Your Result: Philadelphia
Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

Unbelievably, I have actually been at this job for six months tomorrow. Had my six month review yesterday and effective Monday, Feb. 20, I will be full time. Mixed feelings of course - hate giving up the extra days off but looking forward to the benefits. Now I just have to figure out if I have two weeks of outfits that are professional and that fit!

|Home again - tired but pleased
For the first time in years, I worked the registration desk at a meeting and did not have to spend the afternoon after the meeting ended sleeping. There is definitely something to be said for not being the one responsible for all the details. I only had to show up when and where scheduled - that was very nice! On the other hand, hours of flying is exhausting. Fortunately, I have a wonderful daughter who planned AND cooked the dinners for my first two nights home so that I could relax. More appreciated than I will ever be able to express to her. We had a good time but I am not sure I would go back to Hawaii unless someone else was picking up the bill - it is expensive and a long way away. Current Mood: exhausted

|Sick days stink
So I have a cold - but decided today that I will probably live - but missed two days of work which means no pay which stinks - but at least I got sick this week so it will be over before I have to fly in the big aeroplane all the way to Hawaii - for work - will be lucky to see the light of day once I am there but there are worse places to have to go for work in January - could have been Minneapolis or Toronto or someplace else cold. Started back on the Weight Watchers program two weeks ago- lost almost 5 lbs so far - but not real motivated to stick to it when I don't feel well - want comfort food - want someone to make it for me - I am a dreamer - but the family came through and cooked on Monday when I had to go to work so that was nice. If I win the lottery someday, I think I will hire a housekeeper/cook and stop having to plan the meals. I truly don't mind cooking but I am tired of planning them.
I seem to be very whiney today so I will go take a nap now and continue my recovery. Current Mood: listless

To all of you who are so kind as to read my occasional drivel and to let me read your deathless (sometimes) prose and poetry - Merry Christmas! For the first time in several years, I am actually enjoying the season - must have something to do with not being trapped in a job where I was miserable! Anyway - enjoy the season everyone. I cannot remember a time in my life when I have had so little to do at work and have been so BORED. Unfortunately, the people who have been doing all the pieces of the reason I was hired were so busy before they all left for the great meeting in the west that they did not have time to turn over the materials I will need know to do what they hired me for. So here I am for three days with nothing to do except cover a phone that doesn't ring much because everybody is at the meeting! I don't mind being paid to not work hard and I know I will eventually regret whining about having nothing to do but right now I am bored, bored, bored.
And yes, I would like cheese with the whine. Current Mood: bored
